Budd, you should see the thread of support that followed this post after it was imported to Facebook. I'll send you a copy. Not giving a shit is, of course, the preferred stance.

Emily, Thank you! I also have heard stories of people much less fortunate with revealing this than I have been. You've clearly reached largely the same conclusions that I have, that it isn't anything to make a big deal about. I still worry, however, that we may not see as much acceptance in society as we need: but the best that I can see that I can do to improve this is support others like myself by being both open and honest, to those who care enough to ask. (The internet is different, here I force my opinions because the reader has the power to walk away)

Hey Eric. I found your blog through your facebook profile, which I just sent you an add request on. :) I must say, I am enjoying your blog a lot. But then, I always enjoyed what you had to say.

This post is awesome! I just wanted to tell you that. Although I always pretended in my head that you and Sarah Dunn would end up together, I am not very surprised to hear this. I very much appreciate what you wrote here, and how you wrote it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings on your orientation. You are very straightforward about it all. I like that.

I am also very glad that your experience has been one full of support. Many of my friends have had much worse experiences in this situation than you have. I hope very much that we become even more accepting as a society and that people learn to stop making a big deal out of gay relationships. There is nothing to make a big deal about. People are just people, and there is nothing new under the sun, right?
