Most of the modern Christian services incorporate the Christian Rock. It's a pretty easy way to take up time, and get a nice sycophantic crowd going.

I hate these kind of services. I know that it's suppose to appeal to my generation, but I can't stand it. The whole crowd emotion thing really turns me off. I'm just too paranoid of what a mob can do. I know several people who are addicted to the 'feel good' preaching and singing, and 'community feel' of it all. It's just not my thing, I'm too independent/antisocial.

Quite frankly, the human psychology behind the entire ordeal scares me.

Eric -

I can't believe that you take the church stuff seriously.

I attend the annual DART dinners. DART is the local agency that takes care of the slower (retarded) folks. Some of them are "Christians." Believers are always recruiting members reqardless of qualifications. You only have to believe not understand. Unless you like participating in pointless conversations, best not to engage the DART members on religion.

I also spend far more time in the world of the average American citizen, mostly at Lake Isabella, than you. An eight grade vocabulary is mostly understood. There are some deeply disturbed people out there. Some of them are devout Christians. "We had to destroy the village in order to save it" comes to mind. Also, killing doctors who perform abortions in order to save lives is another.

At one time I had access to a biblical scholar. Okay, he was a Jewish biblical scholar but a genius never the less. I wasn't smart enough to ask him why the bible is so full of inhuman deeds. Maybe someday, I will get another chance - or it won't matter.

There are several Ethnic Christian clubs on UCI campus.

Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF)

Asian Baptist Student Koinonia (ABSK)

Filipino Catholic Community - Liwanag

Korea Campus Crusade for Christ (KCCC)

But I haven't attended any because I don't want to be the only white man, nor do I really wish to disturb their groups.

Try attending Korean prayer. Thats far worse (it was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, back when I was a Christian).
